Painter and winemaker Bibi Graetz is an eccentric genius indeed. The half-Norwegian designs the labels for his own highly-rated wines, and lives almost hippie-style in his interesting estate in Fiesole, on the hills above Florence, Italy. His Soffocone di Vincigliata IGT made news for its risque labels depicting a sexual act, which got banned in the USA (now available in India). His Testamatta IGT (100% Sangiovese, also available here, along with the entry level Cassamatta) has been consistently rated over 90 points.
After visiting his winery, we stopped off at Ristoro di Lamole in Greve in Chianti for lunch during our wine travels, and drank some Testamatta, his 90-point plus rated red wine. Bibi Graetz has created a special label for the restaurant (see photo, above).
A terrific view over the hills, some delicious tagliatelle with truffle and Testamatta….nice!
